Good news, good news. The trails are open and the original course is back on! You will be crossing Sylamore Creek! WOOO HOOOO!!! (Side note from Steve, GE doesn't know I am putting this up there - Greg and many volunteers have been out there clearning trails like Madmen and Madwomen. It was tough tough work, but they pulled it out for us. Thank you so much Greg and Volunteers!!!)

Dear Sylamore Trail Racers:
Well, once again, Mother Nature has leveled her fury against Allison, Arkansas.
As most of you know, there was a major winter ice storm that crossed Arkansas two weeks ago and significantly affected Allison and the Sylamore Trail. In fact, the Forest Service has closed the Sylamore Trail because of this damage. I have been in daily contact with the Forest Service, and, despite my early optimism, they think it is unlikely that they will have the trail open by race day.
Because of this, I have made arrangements with the Forest Service for an alternate course that will be run on dirt roads. We will still start at Angler's, run to Barkshed, utilizing dirt roads, and return to Angler's to finish. I realize this isn't the course that any of us would prefer to run, but it is the course that has been dealt us this year.
As anyone who has raced with me in the past knows, or, for that matter, anyone who has raced with previous Sylamore Race Directors, weather is always unpredictable in Arkansas this time of year. In three of the four years I have had the race, we have had snow, tornados and this year, ice. But, the show always goes on; it has for 16 years, and will again this year.
Also, because the course is changed, the cash prize for a new record will be postponed and carried over to next year.
I appreciate everyone's understanding, and hope to see all of you in a few short days.
Greg Eason
Race Director
